BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- The Fighting Camels opened conference play with a win over the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the James R. Nisbet Tennis Center. The victory moves Campbell's record to 10-2 this spring.

The match began with doubles play as Jonathan O'Neal and Gerard Sola got back on track with a win on court three, 6-0, moving their doubles record to 9-1 on the year. The Bulldogs took the No. 1 doubles match as Lorenz Schwab and Dustin Werner fell, 6-3. CU clinched the doubles point as Nicolas Rakitin and Lukas Schaefer defeated Massie/Colclough, 6-3.

With a 1-0 lead after doubles, Campbell did not take its foot off the gas in singles play as the Camels won four of six matches. Sola earned his 13th-straight win, 6-2, 6-1 to move his spring singles record to 11-0 on the year after defeating Reid. Werner won his No. 3 singles match in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4, giving him a singles record of 8-2 this season. Lorenz Schwab clinched the win for CU on court five with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win over Sinai. Campbell freshman Fernando Clemente contined his excellent freshman campaign with a win on court six, 6-2, 6-7, 10-7.
