BUIES CREEK, N.C. --- Campbell's volleyball team opened play in the George Mason Invitational with a 3-2 victory (25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-10) over Penn Friday afternoon. Three Camels (4-0) finished with double-figure kills led by
Allena Heath with 19.

Jessica Stocking put down 17 kills while
Madison Linxwiler tallied 14.
Summer Schuitema dished out 47 assists and registered a double-double with 13 digs.

Reigning Big South Defensive Player of the Week
Kayla Schanback had a match-high 25 digs. While Stocking also tallied a double-double by matching Schuitema's 13 digs.

After Penn forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-18 win in the fourth, the Camels raced out to a 5-1 advantage in the final frame. The Quakers rallied back to cut the deficit to 8-7 midway through the set.

CU responded with a kill from Stocking and went up 10-7 after a Penn attack error. Back-to-back kills from Heath and an ace from Schuietma put the Camels ahea 13-9.

Penn put one more point on the board in the following rally, but
Rachel Harty sealed the five-set win for the Camels with two-straight kills.

Harty finished with seven kills while
Hannah Schneggenburger recorded three blocks.
Danielle Bierman had eight digs.

Parker Jones led three Quakers in double-figure kills with 13 while Courtney Quinn and Kendall Covington had 12 and 11 respectively. Sydney Morton had 45 assists and Caroline Furrrer recorded 20 digs.

After the Camels raced out to a quick 3-0 lead to open the first set, it was only a 15-14 Camel advantage midway through the frame. Kills from Linxwiler and Stocking put Campbell up 21-19 and forced a timeout from Penn.

The Quakers registered a kill out of the break. However, a 4-1 run for the Camels, capped by a Penn attack error, gave Campbell a 1-0 lead in the match.

Penn tied the match with a 25-22 second-set victory. Following that game, CU used a 7-1 run to build a 15-8 lead in the third set. The Quakers drew back within four at 18-14, but faced a 22-18 deficit after a service error.

Campbell sealed the frame with back-to-back kills from Linxwiler and Heath before a Quaker attack error set the Camels up with a 2-1 lead in the match after taking the third 25-19.

The Camels will continue play in the George Mason Invitational on Friday at 7 p.m. against the host Patriots.
