Camels pick up 3-1 road win at N.C. A&T

Allena Heath registers her second 20-kill performance of the season

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Allena Heath registered 20 kills to lead Campbell to a 3-1 (25-12, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17) victory at N.C. A&T in volleyball action Tuesday night. Madison Linxwiler added 10 kills for the Camels (7-4).

It was Heath's second 20-kill effort of the season after a career-high 29 this past weekend against New Orleans. Kayla Schanback and Jessica stocking each registered a match-high 14 digs each while Summer Schuitema dished out 25 assists and added eight digs.

The Camels raced out to a 6-1 lead in the fourth set after seeing their sweep attempt fall with the Aggies (4-7) third-set victory. Schuitema later made it a 10-4 advantage with a kill on a quick dump over the net.

Campbell led by a 17-8 margin off a kill from Hannah Schneggenburger, but A&T drew within 19-13 of the lead on a kill from Samantha Brown. CU stretched it to a 22-14 advantage on an Aggie service error, but a Danielle Bierman ace gave the Camels match point at 24-16. A&T fought it off once, but Schneggenburger ended it with a kill in the ensuing rally.

Jasmine Lindor and Edie Brewer put down a team-high eight kills for N.C. A&T while Brewer added a double-double with 19 assists and 11 digs. Alyssa Pit registered seven kills and Milanna Morgan had a team-high 12 digs.

Schuitema opened the match with back-to-back aces and the Camels reeled off six-straight points to take a 12-5 lead later in the first set. A 4-0 spurt gave CU its first double-digit advantage of the match at 16-6 off a kill from Heath.

Campbell led by as much as 23-8 in the opening frame after a Rachel Harty kill. An Aggie attack error gave CU set point at 24-12 before Arilyn Maier tallied a service ace to finish the first-set victory.

Neither side led by more than three points in the second set. N.C. A&T held a 15-12 advantage midway through the frame before a Stocking kill capped a 3-0 Camel run to tie the score at 15-15.

The Aggies held a 17-15 advantage, but the Camels reeled off four-straight points and led 19-17 after a kill from Heath. Brewer cut Campbell's lead to 23-21 with a kill late in the frame. However, kills from Linxwiler and Stocking gave the set to CU.

It was an early 6-3 Aggie advantage in the third set, but a Linxwiler ace gave CU its first lead of the frame at 10-9. Linxwiler connected on two more aces during a 6-0 run that put the Camels up 13-9. However, N.C. A&T closed the set on a 6-2 spurt to claim the third by a two-point advantage.
