ASHEVILLE, N.C. --- Hannah Schneggenburger tallied a career-high 11 kills, but Campbell's volleyball team dropped its Big South Conference opener to UNC Asheville 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-18) Friday night.

The Camels (10-5, 0-1 BSC) took the opening set, but UNCA (6-7, 1-0) reeled off three-straight set wins to take the match.
Rachel Harty finished with a season-high 10 kills for the Camels.
"We started out well in the first set and stayed poised in a tough environment," said Campbell head coach
Greg Goral. "I give a lot of credit to UNCAÂ for relentlessly attacking us in all phases of the game. We were not able to generate enough momentum to force game five. Our young team will learn that we will have to fight longer and harder throughout conference play in order to achieve our goals."

Summer Schuitema tallied her ninth double-double of the season with 29 assists and 14 digs.
Allena Heath also put down 11 kills to make it three Campbell players in double figure kills.
Kayla Schanback added 11 digs. Â

In the opening set, neither side led by more than two before the Camels reeled off a 5-0 run that pushed their advantage to 20-14. CU's lead stood at 22-17 before UNCA tallied its own 5-0 run to tie the set at 22-22.

A Bulldog service error gave the Camels the lead back before
Madee Miner earned set point with a service ace.
Jessica Stocking finished things off with a kill as CU used a 3-0 run to close out the frame. Campbell had 19 kills and hit .318 in the opening set.

UNCA used a 7-1 run to close out its 25-18 second-set victory and tie the match at 1-1. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third set and led by as many as 20-10 before taking the game 25-15.

The Bulldogs held a narrow 7-6 lead early in the fourth set before an 8-3 run made it a 15-9 advantage. It was an 18-13 UNCA lead when the Camels called a TO.

CU was able to draw within 20-16, but back-to-back kills from KK Haley earned UNCA match point at 24-17. The Camels fought it off once with a service error, but Ansley Rooks ended it with a final kill.

Cara Guthrie tallied a match-high 17 kills, while Rooks added 13. Sheridan Salisbury tallied a game-high 18 digs while Carter Kennedy dished out 24 assists.

The Camels will have a short turnaround and head to Winthrop to face the Eagles at 4 p.m. tomorrow. Â
