BUIES CREEK, N.C. – High Point earned a 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-19, 25-22) over Campbell in Big South Conference volleyball action at Gore Arena Tuesday night.
Madison Linxwiler led the Camels with eight kills.
Jessica Stocking put down seven kills for Campbell (10-7, 0-3 BSC) while
Kayla Schanback tallied a team-high 11 digs.
Summer Schuitema dished out 16 assists and was honored prior to the match for surpassing 1,000 career digs earlier this season.
Campbell trailed by as many as 17-10 in the third set, but a 3-0 Camel run paired with back-to-back kills from Stocking helped pull CU within 22-21 of the High Point (10-6, 3-0) lead late in the frame.
Linxwiler committed an attack error in the following rally, and a service ace from Abby Bottomley gave the Panthers match point at 24-21. The Camels stayed alive shortly after an attack error by HPU's Abby Broadstreet, but Molly Livingston ended it with a kill to complete the sweep.
Haley Barnes led all players with 14 kills for High Point while Livingston finished with 11. Bottomley had a match-high 14 digs and Carly Jimnez dished out a match-high 16 assists.
Allena Heath finished with six kills and
Hannah Schneggenburger had five. Linxwiler added five blocks, including two solo stops.
The Panthers hit .500 in the opening set and used a 9-0 run in the middle of the frame to help roll to a 15-point victory in the first game.
After being deadlocked at 3-3 early in the second set, HPU scored 13 of the next 19 points to take a 16-9 advantage. The Camels were able to cut the deficit to 23-19 late after a kill from Heath, but a kill from Katie Tylman and a service ace from Barnes closed out the frame for the Panthers.
The Camels will continue Big South action at home Friday night against Radford. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
