Kemboi named Big South Runner of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Amon Kemboi has been named the Big South Cross Country Men's Runner of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

Kemboi competed in his first collegiate cross country race on Saturday, winning the men's 6K individual title at the Elon Opener with a time of 18:03. The Kapsabet, Kenya, native was the top finisher among a quartet of CU runners that swept the top four in men's race at Elon.

This is Kemboi's first cross country season after arriving at Campbell for the 2016 spring semester. The freshman currently holds the school record for the outdoor 5000m after running a 13:47.77 at the Mt. Sac Relays in April.

The Fighting Camels will return to competition on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, S.C. For the latest information about Campbell cross country, make sure to follow @GoCamelsRun on Twitter.
