ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Campbell University swimming earned its second road victory of the season, evening its record at 2-2, by defeating fellow CCSA member UNC Asheville, 137-125, on Saturday at the Justice Center Pool.
Going into the final event, the 200 free relay, the score was tied at 123-123. Campbell secured the win by taking first and third place, earning 11 and two points, respectively. Campbell's A team of Neringa Cerniauskaite, Annie Sanchez, Maddie Baiotto and Sarah Wilson, collectively swam a time of 1:37.11, while the B squad of Hannah Kendall, Zoe Malphurs, Maddie Heggie and Megan Everritt finished in 1:39.61.
Campbell earned individual first-place finishes in the 200 free (Annie Sanchez, 1:58.89), 100 back (Everritt, 59.15), 100 free (Wilson, 53.75), 200 back (Kelsey Tunstall, 2:10.15) and 100 fly (Baiotto, 56.91).
In three events, the Camels went two-three: in the 1000 free, Megan Shoemaker finished second (10:48.89) and Ema Bacluite took third (11:08.06); in the 200 fly, Scott placed second (2:08.01) and Baiotto placed third (2:08.56); in the 50 free, Cerniauskaite took second (24.51) while Wilson finished third (24.62).
The Camels opened the day with a victory in the 200 medley as Everritt, McMinn, Baiotto and Wilson swam a time of 1:48.33.
Campbell will take a two-week break from meet action before hosting Georgia Southern on Saturday, Oct. 27, inside the Johnson Aquatic Center. The meet is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
