BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Campbell University swimming won 10 events over Gardner-Webb, helping the Camels pick up their first victory of the 2018-19 season, 147-112, on Friday at the Bost Pool.
The Camels opened the meet by winning the 200-medley relay as the team of Megan Everritt, Taylor McMinn, Maddie Baiotto and Sarah Wilson collectively swam a time of 1:36.23.
McMinn was also the winner in both breaststroke events, taking the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.79 before claiming the 200 breast by swimming a 2:25.80.
Baiotto earned an individual win in the 100 fly with a clip of 56.94, while Madison Scott also won a butterfly event, finishing first in the 200 fly (2:07.23).
Annie Sanchez picked up her second consecutive victory in the 200 free as the freshman clocked in at 1:53.67. She also won the 100 free by swimming a 52.37, while fellow freshman Neringa Cerniauskaite swam a 53.33 to take second place.
Julia Sherlock swept a pair of individual victories in backstroke action. She swam a 58.80 to win the 100 back before taking top points in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.75. Everritt finished right behind Sherlock in the 100 back, clocking in at 58.99.
In freestyle action, Wilson and Cerniauskaite finished one-two in the 50 free. Wilson hit the wall first with a time of 24.42, while Cerniauskaite came in at 24.53.
In the distance events, Megan Shoemaker posted a second-place finish in the 1000 free (10:43.14) and a third-place finish in the 500 free (5:15.70).
The Camels will continue to compete on the road as they head to Nashville, Tenn., next weekend to face Vanderbilt on Friday, Oct. 12, for a 2 p.m. meet.
