25-1 run in first half propels Camels by Lancers

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – A 25-1 run midway through the first half propelled hot-shooting Campbell to an 88-54 win over Longwood Saturday at Gore Arena.

Chris Clemons led four Camels in double figures with 25 points – and in the process, moved into 10th place on the Big South Conference's all-time scoring list. Andrew Eudy added 18 points, six rebounds, a career-high eight assists and three blocks, while Jordan Whitfield and Marcus Burk chipped in 11 apiece for the Camels, who shot 57 percent from the floor and nailed 16 threes.

Campbell (14-12, 8-6) outscored Longwood 19-0 , hitting six of seven shots in the stretch, while Longwood (6-21, 3-11) went more than 8:00 in the opening period without a field goal and suffered its eighth-straight loss.

Clemons finished 10-of-18 from the floor, hit 5-of-10 threes, grabbed eight boards and dealt three assists with no turnovers in 28 minutes.  The nation's fifth-leading scorer (24.8) ran his NCAA Division I-leading double-figure scoring streak to 74 games.  Clemons now has 2,031 points in 89 games. He scored 16 points in the opening period and moved by Radford's Doug Day (2,027 points from 1989-93) in the process on the Big South list.

The Camels took their largest halftime lead of the year (29 points) after making 55 percent of their shots (17-31) in the opening stanza, including 9-of-20 from 3-poitn distance.  Longwood, meanwhile, hit just 6-of-27 (22 percent) from the floor in the first period and committed eight turnovers that the Camels converted into 12 points.

Longwood twice cut its deficit to 25 points in the final period, but drew no closer.

On the night, Campbell connected on 16-of-37 threes and hit 33-of-58 overall (.569) from the floor.

By winning its second-straight game, Campbell moved into a tie with Radford for third place in the Big South standings, heading into Thursday's 9:00 p.m. game at Radford, Va., which will be televised by ESPNU.

Campbell improved to 10-4 at Gore Arena this year, while Longwood fell to 1-11 on the road, 1-6 at Big South opponents' home floors.
