Campbell (0-1) opened the season with a 16-5 loss at Richmond on Saturday. Five different Camels found the back of the net in their 2018 debut, with senior
Carter Koontz putting Campbell on the board with the team's first goal of 2018 at the 2:34 mark in the first.
Ellie Allen, with her first career goal,
Kayla Reilly Mackenzie Koeller and
Melissa Placek also added goals for the Camels.
Megan Reilly paced the Campbell defense with career highs of six ground balls and five caused turnovers in the loss.
The 18
th-ranked Blue Devils (1-0) opened the season with a 17-9 win over then-No. 21 Elon in Durham.
Nine different Blue Devils scored in the season-opening win, including four tallies from Maddie Crutchfield, and goalkeeper Gabbe Cadoux collected 10 saves to anchor a defensive unit that held the Phoenix to just three first half goals.
Crutchfield added an assist in the win, and Charlotte North tacked on three goals.
Friday's tilt will be the second all-time meeting between the Camels and Duke, with the Blue Devils taking the 2016 opening contest 20-4.
Campbell hosts East Carolina in its home opener on February 24 at Barker-Lane Stadium.
