BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- No. 25 St. John's earned the weekend sweep over Campbell with a 7-1 win Sunday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.
Michael LoPresti (1-0) was credited with the win, tossing 6.0 innings and giving up just one run on four hits. The junior right-hander fanned four Campbell batters and walked none in his first appearance of the season. Joe LaSorsa notched the save, pitching the final three frames hitless and scoreless.
Redshirt junior
Alex Yarem (0-1) took the loss, giving up three runs and four hits over 2.0 innings pitched.
Campbell (0-3) scored its only run of the game on a solo shot by
Matthew Barefoot (1-for-4) in the bottom of the sixth. The Dunn, N.C. native sent a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall for the Camels' first home run of the season.
Freshman
Ty Babin (2-for-4) logged his first career multi-hit performance with singles in the fourth and sixth innings.
Tyler Anshaw (1-for-3) collected a single for the Camels in the bottom of the first.
Luke Stampfl (2-for-5) led the Red Storm with two RBI, including a solo home run in the top of the second. Jamie Galazin (3-for-4) and John Valente (2-for-5) also turned in multi-hit games.
Campbell returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 21 as the East Carolina Pirates visit Buies Creek. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. at Jim Perry Stadium.
