BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Lukas Schaefer notched a singles win but Campbell fell to Elon (5-4), 6-1, Tuesday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
Schaefer lost the opening set, 2-6, but rallied to win the final two, 7-5, 10-4, to give the Camels (3-4) their only point on the day. The senior's win pushed his record to 2-1 on the season in singles play.
Elon won the first two matchups on court two and three to open doubles play.
Louis Monterosso and
Fernando Clemente fell in a close battle, 7-6. Schaefer and
Ted Williams dropped their first doubles loss of the season in a 6-4 decision.
Jonathan O'Neal and
Gerard Sola did not finish their matchup on court one but led 6-5 before being cut short.
Ted Williams was featured in the only other singles set to split. The freshman dropped to decision 6-4, 1-6, 7-6.
Tuesday's loss ends a 13-game home winning streak for the Camels that dated back to the final regular season game on the 2015-16 season. Campbell returns to action on Saturday, February 24 as the squad hosts Gardner-Webb to open conference play.
