Camels rally to claim 4-3 win

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - As multiple events were in action across campus, possibly the most excitement came from the Nisbet Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

Lorenz Schwab claimed a win at No. 2 to finish the Campbell comeback, after being down 0-3, as CU defeated Gardner-Webb, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center.

Gardner-Webb (5-7, 0-1 BSC) claimed the doubles point and the first two points in singles action before Campbell (4-4, 1-0 BSC) reeled off four straight singles wins to claim the match.

Lorenz Schwab dropped the first set, 4-6, but rallied off two straight wins, 6-2, 7-5, to improve his record to a team leading 4-3 (1-0 BSC) record on the season.

Ted Williams, Gerard Sola and Dustin Werner solidified three of Campbell's final four wins. Williams improved his record to 3-2 (1-0 BSC) with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Johan Fors at No. 6. At No. 5, Sola won in two sets with a 6-4, 7-6 decision over Breno Plentz to notch his second win of the year while Werner rallied to win the final two sets, 7-6, 6-1, after dropping the opener to Paul Hogan 5-7 at No. 3. With Saturday's win, Werner now sits at a 3-3 (1-0) mark on the season.

Werner and Schwab combined to claim one win, 7-6, in doubles action over Adam Schmidt and Fors. The duo now sits at 2-1 (1-0 BSC).

Campbell returns to action Monday, February 26 when they host North Carolina Central in a 1:00 p.m. start time.
