Camels top Presbyterian, remain perfect in Big South

Campbell is a perfect 3-0 in Big South play and remain atop the conference

BUIES CREEK, N.C. ­- Lorenz Schwab and Dustin Werner both claimed their third consecutive conference win as Campbell won their sixth straight match with a 4-3 victory over the defending Big South Conference Champions, Presbyterian, Saturday afternoon.
 
Werner improved to 8-3 on the season as he won his sixth consecutive matchup with a 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Alejandro Bejar at No. 3 to clinch the win for Campbell (9-4, 3-0 Big South). The German has not lost a singles matchup since February 9 at UNCG.
 
Werner paired with his doubles partner Lorenz Schwab for the duo's seventh straight win with a 6-4 win at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point for the Camels who have claimed the doubles point in their last five matches.
 
Jonathan O'Neal and Gerard Sola secured their fourth consecutive win as a duo with a 6-2 win at No. 2 to open doubles action. The pair holds a 2-1 record in conference play on the season and have not lost since February 27 at North Carolina Central.
 
Ted Williams picked up his fifth win and pushed his record to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big South with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6 for the Camels third point of the day. The Melbourne, Australia native sports a 4-2 record at No. 6 and has won three of his last four matchups.
 
Schwab opened singles play with 6-2, 6-4 win over Brandon Mills at No. 2 and improved his record to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in conference action.
 
With Saturday's win, the Camels remain atop the Big South Conference with a perfect 3-0 record. Campbell hits the road for a five-game road stretch starting Saturday, March 24 at Winthrop with first serve set for 2:00 p.m.
