Greensboro, N.C. - Lukas Schaefer clinched the match at No. 4 as Campbell defeated UC Riverside 4-3 Monday evening in Greensboro, N.C.
Campbell (10-6, 3-1 Big South) picked up its first neutral site victory of the season in its second match in as many days.
Lukas Schaefer notched the clincher with a 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 4 for the Camels' seventh win in the squads last eight matches. Schaefer picked up his sixth win and pushed his overall record to 6-4 on the season with a win over Nabil Abdullah.
Lorenz Schwab got back to his winning ways with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win over Kyle McCann at No. 2 to set up the potential clincher at No. 4. The German now sits at 7-6 on the season after posting a 3-2 record during the month of March.
Campbell claimed both doubles matchups as the third one did not finish.
Jonathan O'Neal and
Gerard Sola picked up their sixth consecutive win with a 7-5 decision at No. 2. The duo now holds a 6-3 mark on the season at No. 2 and a 7-6 mark overall.
Lukas Schaefer and
Louis Monterosso notched the other doubles victory for the Camels with a 6-3 win at No. 3 over Nabil Abdullah and Anderson Ju to improve their doubles record to 4-2 on the year. At No. 3, the pair now sports a 4-2 overall record.
Campbell's other two points came from opening singles wins from
Gerard Sola and
Ondrej Labik. Sola kicked off singles action with a 6-2, 6-0 two set win over Gilbert Chung to even his overall record at 7-7. Labik picked up his third win in five matches with a 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory over Pawel Jankowiak at No. 1.
Campbell will now take a two-day break from matches before traveling to Virginia to take on Radford on Thursday. The Highlanders rank seventh in the conference standings with an 0-3 Big South record but sit at 8-6 overall.
Campbell sits at 3-1 in Big South play and is just one win out of first place behind undefeated Liberty and Winthrop who both sport a 4-0 record. Campbell's sole loss in conference play came to Winthrop on Sunday and the Camels close out the 2018 regular season at home against Liberty on April 12 as a part of three remaining Big South matches.
