Campbell (6-7, 2-1 Big South) has won three of its last four outings, including a 21-7 Big South victory at Presbyterian last Saturday. Nine Camels scored in the win, including a game-high four goals from
Melissa Placek. Five Camels registered hat tricks.
Campbell led 10-6 at the half before outscoring PC 11-1 in the second frame. CU also out-shot the Blue Hose 22-5 in the second stanza, and while Campbell committed just two turnovers in the second half, PC gave away 11 miscues.
Placek, who surpassed the 100 career goals mark in the win at PC, leads Campbell with 43 goals and 68 draw controls on the season, while
Kayla Reilly, now Campbell's all-time assists leader, owns 43 points on 25 assists and 18 scores.
Annie Pazulski tacks on 38 points with a team-high 28 helpers and 10 goals.
Megan Reilly owns 34 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers. The senior became Campbell's all-time leader in ground balls Saturday at PC, and stands two caused turnovers away from setting a new CU career standard in the category.
Winthrop (10-3, 3-0 Big South) comes into Wednesday's meeting with nine straight wins, including a 12-9 victory at Radford in its last outing. Nicole Beatson is the top goal scorer in the Big South, totaling 60 goals and 74 total points. Kristen Shriver adds 49 points on 37 assists and 12 goals.
Campbell is 2-4 all-time against the Eagles, taking both meetings last season 17-16 in Buies Creek and an 11-9 victory in the Big South Championship semifinals.
Campbell will round out the regular season with three-straight at home, beginning with Radford April 14. CU will also host Longwood on April 18 and Liberty on April 21. The 2018 Big South Championships begin April 28.
