BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Liberty closed the game on a 5-0 run, including three goals from Kayla Foster, to down Campbell 13-9 Saturday in the 2018 regular season finale at Barker-Lane Stadium.
Liberty improves to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in Big South play, while Campbell falls to 8-9 on the year and 4-3 in conference games.
Campbell led 9-8 with 12:42 on the clock after
Mackenzie Koeller scored three straight, but Foster answered with three consecutive goals, sparking the 5-0 run to end the game.
The contest featured eight ties and seven lead changes until the deciding streak.
Foster led the Flames with seven points, including six goals and an assist, while Michaela Rich and Brianna McCaffrey added two goals each. Carly White posted five ground balls with two caused turnovers, while Katherine Widrick collected nine saves.
Koeller tallied six goals for the Camels and caused a pair of turnovers, while
Melissa Placek netted three scores.
Kayla Reilly also dished out three assists in the loss, tacking on four caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Megan Reilly notched two caused turnovers and picked up four ground balls for the Camels, and
Sydney Etheridge saved 11 Liberty shots.
Campbell controlled the draw 14-10 in the loss, but turned the ball over 25 times. Liberty also owned edge in shots (30-22) and ground balls (23-17).
Campbell will be the No. 4 seed in next week's Big South Championships, and will host fifth-seeded Radford on Saturday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at Barker-Lane Stadium.
