BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Fourth-seeded Campbell scored a program record 23 times to sink visiting No. 5 Radford 23-11 in Big South Championship quarterfinal action Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
In addition to a single-game record for team goals, the Camels (9-9) posted Big South single-game tournament records for goals, points (36) and draw controls (25) against the Highlanders (6-11).
With 11 assists,
Kayla Reilly set an individual record for single-game points and assists, the senior also broke the Big South's overall single-game mark for assists, while tying the conference's tournament game record for points.
Mackenzie Koeller's eight goals also tied a Big South tournament game record, while
Melissa Placek's 13 draw controls set a new Big South tournament game standard, tying the Campbell single-game record for the second time this season.
Campbell's 36 points also tied a school single-game mark.
The Camels led by as many as eight (11-3, 6:12) in the first half, and scored 12 of the game's final 16 goals to take the victory.
Koeller and Placek combined for 15 of Campbell's 23 goals, with Koeller matching her career-high. Placek's seven scores also tied a career best for the junior.
Morgan Hollenbeck also scored four goals for the Camels, while
Sarah Paul notched a pair.
Carter Koontz,
Rose Prizzi,
Megan Reilly and
Julia Markey each caused two turnovers, with Prizzi adding five ground balls and Koontz tacking on a goal.
Sydney Etheridge posted six saves with four ground balls in goal.
Adrian Rius led Radford with four goals, while Callie Bonnel collected three goals. Rachel Ator caused five turnovers with four ground balls for the Highlanders.
Already Campbell's career leader in assists,
Kayla Reilly also set the school single-season mark. The senior came into the day with 41, and passed Erica Hitch's 2016 mark of 50.
Placek also reset a Campbell single-season record for draw controls. The junior, who set the previous total last season with 98, now owns 109 this year.
Campbell has also set team single-season records for goals (240) and draw controls (273).
Campbell advances to take on top-seeded High Point at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 4 in the Big South Championship semifinals. The game will be a rematch of last season's conference championship game.
No. 3 Winthrop will face No. 2 Liberty at 7 p.m. All remaining games in the tournament will be held at HPU's Vert Stadium.
The Big South title game is set for a noon start on Sunday, May 6.
