CLINTON, S.C. – Nine Camels scored goals, pushing Campbell past Presbyterian 21-7 Saturday at Bailey Memorial Stadium.
Campbell, winners of three of its last four, improves to 6-7 on the season and 2-1 in Big South play. Presbyterian falls to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in conference outings.
The Camels led 10-6 at the half before outscoring PC 11-1 in the second frame. CU also out-shot the Blue Hose 22-5 in the second stanza, and while Campbell committed just two turnovers in the second half, PC gave away 11 miscues.
Melissa Placek led five Camels with hat tricks, totaling four goals, while
Mackenzie Koeller posted a game-high five points on three goals and two assists.
Ellie Allen registered three goals, while
Morgan Hollenbeck and
Mackenzie Kolesar netted three goals apiece off the bench. Kolesar, a freshman from Crofton, Md., collected her first career hat trick and added an assist.
Amanda Chasin picked up six ground balls and caused three turnovers, while
Carter Koontz gathered four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Megan Reilly recorded three ground balls with a caused turnover in the win.
Sydney Etheridge collected six saves with four ground balls.
Kelly Hyman topped PC with three goals, while Sophia Cuzzupe notched eight ground balls.
Kayla Reilly became Campbell's all-time assists leader in the win. The senior came into the game one shy of Erica Hitch's (2013-16) CU career record of 106 before assisting on two Placek scores. Placek, a junior, also surpassed the 100 career goal mark in the win.
With three ground balls at PC,
Megan Reilly became Campbell's career leader, passing
Erin O'Hara's (2014-17) school record of 107.
Next up for Campbell will be a trip to Winthrop on April 11. Campbell returns home on April 14, hosting Radford.
