BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State scattered three goals across three different players and defeated Campbell 3-0 Sunday afternoon at the Appalachian State Soccer Park.
Appalachian State (1-1) was able to fire off nine shots to Campbell's seven. The Mountaineers were able to get either of their shots on goal compared to CU's four.
Alexa Genas fired two shots on goal to lead the Camels. Campbell created four corner kick opportunities versus App State's three.
Two Mountaineer keepers split time in goal, 45 minutes each, but Taylor Ray picked up the win after recording one save on the afternoon.
Jamie Palermo opened the scoring slate with a goal in the opening five minutes. Maggie Hanusek netted another goal before closing the first half. Kait Seitter closed out the scoring tally with just 10 minutes remaining in the second half.
Campbell takes a week off before their next match. The Camels welcome Liberty on Sunday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m. This will be the first time the two squads meet since Liberty announced its departure from the Big South Conference.
