Camels edged by Liberty 1-0

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Erin Scott picked up seven saves for Campbell but Kelsey Adams scored in the 76th minute to push Liberty past Campbell 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Eakes Athletics Complex.

Gabrielle Ferrell avoided a defender and dribbled the ball down to the end line on the right side before playing the ball to Kelsey Adams' right foot in front of the goal for the sole score of the game.

Erin Scott strung together seven saves for the Camels including multiple diving saves. The senior from Dallas, TX kept the Flames off the board in the first half by saving all four shots on frame as a part of the eight total shots in the opening period.

"Erin was phenomenal in goal she definitely kept us in the game and did a good job for us" said second year head coach Samar Azem. "In the moments where we saw flashes of what we are capable of those moment were really exciting."

Molly Andres picked up the win between the pipes for the Flames and recorded one save over 45 minutes of action.

Liberty fired off 14 shots to Campbell's six and placed eight on goal for the match. The Flames also forced nine corner kicks compared to Campbell's five.

Emma Bushee played a beautiful ball from just inside the Campbell half to Bianca Mandrini who shot the ball towards goal but was met by a diving Molly Andres. Alexa Genas sent two shots towards goal to lead the Camels.

Campbell now begins a three-game road trip as the Camels travel to Western Carolina on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Last season the Camels fell short, 4-3, to the Catamounts. Alexa Genas pieced together a hat trick but WCU netted two goals in the final six minutes to edge the Camels.

"We have a week of training and we're excited to go there a play in a great environment and put last year's game behind us" stated Azem.
