GREENVILLE, N.C — Campbell University earned two wins over Lenoir-Rhyne (209-53) and Catawba College (203-58) while suffering a loss to ECU (99.5, 162.5) in a quad-meet hosted by the Pirates on Saturday afternoon inside Minges Coliseum.
Annie Sanchez earned Campbell's only first-place finish in the meet, taking top honors in the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:51.79. Sanchez also took second in the 100 free (51.81), finishing two spots ahead of Sarah Wilson's 52.96. Wilson tied for second in the 50 free with a mark of 24.30.
In the 100 fly, Maddie Baiotto and Lauren Shoemaker took second and third place, respectively. Baiotto posted a time of 58.13 while Shoemaker went 59.15.
Megan Everritt took Campbell's top finish in the backstroke events, placing second in the 100 back (58.87). Kelsey Tunstall took third in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.78. In the distance event, the 500 free, Kacey Hauck took third place with a season-best 5:16.64.
Mary Grace Greco also earned a third-place finish, taking the spot in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.97.
In the two relay events, Campbell's 400-medley squad of Everritt, Angelica Brown, Baiotto and Wilson finished third in 3:59.42, while the 200-free relay team of Sanchez, Colleen Renshaw, Baiotto and Wilson took second place in 1:36.87.
Campbell will prep for a pair of home meets next weekend, Oct. 25-26. The Fighting Camels host UNC Pembroke on Friday at 5 p.m. before facing CCSA foes Gardner-Webb and Old Dominion in a tri-meet Saturday at noon.
On Friday night, the Camels will wear green caps in support of Mental Health Awareness. Campbell's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will sponsor the meet, campaigning for the organization's Hope Happens Here initiative. The team will wear pink caps in support of breast cancer research in Saturday's tri-meet.
