BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Shy Tuelle scored a career-high 18 points and Taya Bolden paired 15 rebounds with 10 points for her 10th career double-double as Campbell women's hoops outlast Gardner-Webb on Saturday afternoon, 69-63.
Lauren Carter also added 16 points with five rebounds in the win, while Caroline Bowns dished out a career-high nine assists. Hayley Barber scored nine for CU.
The Camels shot 50 percent (12-for-24) in the first half while holding Gardner-Webb to just 25 percent (8-for-32). CU outscored the Runnin' Bulldogs 15-5 in the second quarter to go into the half with a 13-point advantage, 35-22.
An 8-4 Campbell spurt to open the third quarter earned the Camels a 43-26 lead, their largest lead of the game (17).
With 5:22 remaining in the fourth period, GWU's Savannah Plentovich knocked down a three to cut the deficit to single digits, 55-47. The Bulldogs pulled to within four of the Camels (62-58, 1:17 to go), but CU went 7-for-11 at the charity stripe over the final minute of play to pull away with the 69-63 win.
Campbell outrebounded Gardner-Webb 49-39. The Bulldogs forced 29 Campbell turnovers, scoring 27 off the Camels' miscues.
The Camels will return home to host Charleston Southern on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
