Lacrosse makes road debut at Coastal

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will make its 2019 road debut at former Big South rival Coastal Carolina Wednesday. The opening draw is set for 3 p.m. at Brooks Stadium.

The Camels dropped to 0-2 in the early going after a 15-8 loss to Richmond Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium. The Spiders, who earned a final RBI of 20 after winning the A-10 title in 2018, are picked to repeat in 2019. The Spiders owned a 34-20 advantage in total shots and a 26-17 edge in ground balls. Campbell, meanwhile, won the draw control battle, 15-10.

Annie Pazulski paced Campbell on the offensive end with a goal and two assists. Each of Pazulski's three points came in the second half, finding the back of the net for CU's first score of the second half, then assisting on two others.

Amanda Chasin posted three ground balls to go along with two caused turnovers. The senior owns five ground balls on the season.

Lexie Patton gathered 13 saves, adding a team-high five ground balls. Patton, who posted 12 saves in her collegiate debut last week, totaled nine saves in the second half against the Spiders, including two off free position attempts. Patton, who has played all 120 minutes for the Camels in goal this season, owns the Big South's top saves per game rate at 12.5, and second-best save percentage at .455.

Coastal Carolina comes into Wednesday's matchup at 1-1, falling at No. 8 Syracuse on Monday. Haley Alexander leads the Chanticleers on the season with nine points on six goals and three assists, while Haley Kyger owns four goals and two helpers. Emily D'Orsaneo adds seven ground balls and five caused turnovers on the defensive end.

The Camels and the Chanticleers will be meeting for the second time as nonconference foes, with CCU taking last season's meeting 14-9 at Campbell. Coastal, who matched up with Campbell in Big South play each season from 2013-16, leads the all-time series 5-1.

Campbell returns to Buies Creek on Saturday, February 23, hosting Wofford.
