LYNCHBURG, Va. — Campbell University swimming completed day two of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships on Thursday night inside the Liberty Natatorium.
Campbell's 200-free relay squad of Maddie Baiotto, Annie Sanchez, Hannah Kendall and Sarah Wilson collectively swam a 1:32.69 to finish third, just missing the school record set at last year's conference meet by 0.09 seconds (1:32.60).
Kacey Hauck was Campbell's top finisher in the 500 free finals, finishing 21st with a season best mark of 5:06.74. Ema Balcuite (23rd, 5:08.54) and Megan Shoemaker (25th, 5:11.82) also swam season highs.
In the 200 IM finals, Kelsey Tunstall earned CU's highest finish, placing 17th with a time of 2:08.74, another season best.
In the 50 free finals, five Camels placed among the top 17, led by Baiotto's ninth place finish (23.61), a personal best. The total of five was the most for any team to place in the top 17. Sanchez's mark of 23.61 was a person best for the freshman.
Through day two of the CCSA Championships, Campbell is in sixth place with 238.5 points behind Liberty (616.5), Florida Gulf Coast (307), Georgia Southern (326), Incarnate Word (307) and UNC Asheville (261). The Camels are ahead of Gardner-Webb (211), North Florida (184) and Howard (136).
The Liberty women's swimming and diving team is in first-place with 616.5 points after the second day of the 2019 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championship at the Liberty Natatorium.
