BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Courtney Hankins and Mikayla Rubin both drove in three runs as Fairfield topped Campbell 10-1 Monday morning at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Hankins (2-for-2, 3 RBI, 1 run) and Rubin (2-for-5, 3 RBI, 1 run) helped cap a two-run fifth, and a pair of three-run innings to close the game for Fairfield (2-1).
Katie Kudlacik (1-0) went the distance and tossed a four-hit, one run performance. The freshman recorded 10 strikeouts while walking just one and facing just five over the minimum.
Megan Richards (1-4) registered the loss after allowing two runs – one earned – on four hits while walking two over 3.1 innings of work for the Camels (4-10).
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, Abby Perryman (1-for-3, 1 RBI) drove in the sole run of the game for the Camels on a single to center field to score Mozingo who singled to center to start the frame.
Fairfield responded with eight unanswered down the stretch. A hit by pitch, fielder's choice and a fielding error loaded the bases before Drew Westford plated a run on a hit by pitch. Madison Robicheau drew a walk to plate the final run of the two-run fifth.
Rubin doubled to right field to drive in Tahlia Brown and Amanda Ulzheimer before Westford reached on a fielder's choice to bring home Hankins.
Sam Merino drove in Meringer from third with a single to left field which set up an RBI ground out from Rubin to bring home Hankins after Hankins singled to left field to score Maria Telle.
Campbell returns to action next weekend at the NC State Invitational starting on Friday with a matchup against Kansas at 3:30 pm.
