LAKE CHARLES, LA - Campbell used a sixth inning surge against No. 14 Arkansas but their comeback came up short as the Camels dropped their two opening day games to Lipscomb and Arkansas.

Lipscomb (1-0) tabbed an 8-0 win in six inning to start the day before Arkansas 1-0 claimed a 7-3 win over Campbell (0-2).

Campbell vs Lipscomb

Mandy Jordan and Megan Gray combined to toss six scoreless innings as Lipscomb topped Campbell 8-0 in the season opener.

Jordan hurled four perfect innings allowing no base runners and striking out 10 of 12 Campbell batters. Her outing secured her first win of the season (1-0). Gray came in and threw 2.0 innings and allowed just one hit while striking out four.

Kayla Green posted a two RBI outing with two hits in three at bats to pair with one run scored.

Lipscomb (1-0) used a four run second inning to jump out to an early lead. Hannah Devault sent a one out single through the left side to start the threat. Followed by a hit by pitch, Khayla Green doubled to left center to drive in Devault. Destinee Brewer grounded out to drive in Ward from third to push the lead to 2-0. An error allowed Abby Davis to reach base and brought in another run followed by a stolen base. A RBI single drove in Davis before a pop up ended the frame.

Hannah Jones went 1-2 during the contest and struck the Camels sole base knock of the game in the fifth inning when she sent a line drive single to center field for Campbell (0-1).

The Bisons were able to tack on a two run third inning and a pair of one run additions in the fourth and sixth to cap off the game.

Arkansas posted a two-run first inning before following with a four-run second frame. An error and a pair of walks set up a fielder choice which drove in two Razorback runners. Diaz ripped a two out double to right center to drive in the final two runs of the inning.

Autumn Storms (1-0) tossed 7.0 innings and allowed three runs, all in the sixth inning, across eight hits to pick up the win.
