CLEVELAND, Ohio — On day two of the CSCAA National Invitational Championships, Campbell senior Taylor McMinn and junior Maddie Baiotto posted top-20 finishes in the finals Friday night.
McMinn swam a 1:03.67 in the 100 breast finals for a 17th-place finish. The senior from St. Simons, Ga., finished tied for 19th in the preliminary round with a mark of 1:03.71.
Baiotto turned in a 55.11 clocking in the 100 fly finals, good for 16th place overall. The junior from Hubert, N.C., advanced to the finals with a time of 54.83 in the prelims, claiming 14th place.
McMinn earned Campbell 4 points while Baiotto's finish resulted in 5 points.
Campbell's 200-medley relay team of Megan Everritt, McMinn, Baiotto and Sarah Wilson placed 14th in the finals, collectively posting a time of 1:43.58, which added 14 points to CU's team score. The Camels also took 16th in the 800-free relay finals, as Annie Sanchez, Neringa Cerniauskaite, Hannah Kendall and Julia Sherlock competed the relay in 7:32.35. The mark earned CU 10 team points.
With 59 points after two days, Campbell ranks 23rd out of 44 Division I women's swimming teams.
Madison Scott just missed the 100 fly finals cut by just one place, coming in 21st in the prelims with a time of 55.38. Everritt just missed her finals cut in the 100 back, also the prelims in 21st place with a mark of 56.25. Sanchez was Campbell's lone swimmer in the 200 free prelims, turning in a 32nd-place performance in 1:51.50.
Campbell will wrap up the CSCAA NIC competition Saturday, March 16 with entries in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400-free relay.
The Camels continue day two at the CSCAA NIC Friday, March 15 as CU competes in the 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 200-medley relay and 800-free relay. The prelims begin at 9:30 a.m. while the finals are set for a 6:00 p.m. start. The end of the meet will mark the end of the season for the Fighting Camels.
