GREENVILLE, N.C. –
Laura Will's third overtime goal lifted visiting Campbell over East Carolina Sunday at Johnson Stadium.
With the win, Campbell moved to 3-4 on the season, while ECU dipped to 5-5.
The Camels led 10-9 with
Annie Pazulski's fourth goal of the day with 4:02 remaining in regulation before ECU's Hannah Rzempoluch tied the game with 1:49 to go, knotting the score for the second time in 4:30.
The teams combined for four shots through the first two overtimes, but with 2:16 to go in the third, Will found the back of the cage with the assist from Pazulski to close out the Pirates.
Campbell led by as many as four goals in the first half, going up 5-1 before the Pirates scored four of the next five, cutting the CU lead to 6-5 at the break.
The teams traded scores until Rzempoluch's game-tying goal.
Pazulski posted a game-high seven points with four goals and three assists, while Will punched in three goals.
Melissa Placek also scored three times, adding two assists with eight draw controls, with
Ellie Allen tallying a goal and an assist.
Sam Carey and
Maggie Dolan also dished out an assist apiece.
Julia Markey tallied three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while
Lexie Patton posted 10 saves with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Rzempoluch led ECU with four goals, with Emma Bowman following with three scores. Jordyn Cox also posted three ground balls with two caused turnovers, while Christina White tallied 14 saves, plus four ground balls.
Next up for the Camels will be a trip to Chapel Hill, N.C. on Tuesday, taking on nationally ranked North Carolina. The Tar Heels are currently No. 3 in the Inside Lacrosse poll, and ranked No. 5 by the IWLCA. Campbell returns home Saturday, hosting Mount St. Mary's.
