BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Kayla Fredendall and
Abby Perryman both drove in runs but the Camels dropped the series cap 5-2 against Charleston Southern Sunday afternoon at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Despite the loss, the Camels still clinched the series, 2-1, following a doubleheader sweep on Saturday.
Rhiana Hubbard drove in three runs and Jade Gandara knocked in two more for Charleston Southern (10-27, 4-5 Big South).
After two scoreless frames to open the game, Gandara (1-for-4, 2 RBI) doubled to right center to bring home Brooklyn Brewington and Annie Bakenhus.
With two outs, Bakenhus singled to right field before Brewington followed with a single to center.
Kayla Fredendall responded in the bottom half with her sixth home run of the year as she belted the first pitch she saw over the right center field for a solo shot.
Hubbard answered with a long ball of her own in the fourth as she sent a 2-0 pitch out of the park to center which plated two runs and pushed the Charleston Southern lead to 4-1.
Arizona Pilgrim picked up the win in relief by tossing 4.2 innings where she allowed just one run across four hits.
Megan Richards was dealt the loss after giving up four runs – all earned – across seven hits.
Lexy Head came on in relief where she allowed just one run over 2.1 frames.
Haley Hutchins threw a perfect 1-2-3 frame in the seventh to close things out in the circle for the Camels.
The two squads traded runs in the sixth. Sarah Brown singled to center with one out before being brought home from second by Hubbard.
Abby Perryman responded with her ninth double of the year which plated
Avery Wheatley who doubled with one out to start the frame.

The Camels hit the road Wednesday for a midweek sole matchup at Elon. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
