FARMVILLE, VA - Campbell dropped a pair of close games on Saturday as
Kayla Fredendall homered twice at the Lancer Softball Park.
Campbell dropped game one 4-2 before falling in a high scoring second game 11-10.
Game one
Kayla Fredendall homered in the third but the Camels could not come back in a 4-2 loss to Longwood (20-11, 7-1).
Trailing 3-0,
Kayla Fredendall belted her seventh home run of the year to make it 3-2.
The Lancers plated three runs an inning before. An error plated two runs before a sacrifice fly scored the game opening run in the second.
Longwood added another run on a solo home run in the sixth. Campbell could not answer in the seventh as they stranded a runner on first.
The Camels stranded the bases loaded twice over the course of the matchup and totaled 11 runners left on base.
Game two
Kayla Fredendall hit her second home run of the day but the Camels fell to Longwood 11-10.
Fredendall opened the scoring slate in the first with a two run shot over the left center fence to make it 2-0.
Longwood answered in the bottom have with an RBI single through the right side to make it 2-1.
Bri Bryant sent a two RBI single up the middle to make it 4-1 before a solo home run to make it 5-1 in the third.
Avery Wheatley drove in a run to make it 6-1 in third before Longwood answered with four runs in the fourth.
After Longwood took a one run lead, 7-6, Campbell loaded the bases twice which resulted in an RBI hit by pitch from
Megan Mozingo and an RBI walk by
Cassie Wancheck which scored
Kayla Fredendall.
Campbell regained the lead in the fourth with a pair of sacrifice flies from
Christa Hall and
Hannah McCravy.
Tied 10-10 in the sixth, Longwood singled to left to make it 11-10. Campbell could not answer in the seventh as the Lancers sealed the win.
The two squads meet for game three tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
