Camels drop series finale to Longwood

Farmville, VA - Kayla Fredendall and Kynadi Tipler both homered but the Camels fell to Longwood 6-5 Sunday afternoon at Lancer Field.

Longwood (21-11, 8-1 Big South) clinched the walk off win and the series when Sydney Jacobson scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the seventh.

With two outs, Jacobson tripled down the right field line to drive in Kasey Carr who singled just one batter earlier.Campbell (16-19, 7-5 Big South) trailed by one heading into the final frame. Kayla Fredendall (1-for-2, 1 RBI, 2 run, 2 BB) drew a four-pitch walk with two outs before Kynadi Tipler hit her fifth home run of the year over the center field wall to make it 5-4 Camels before the Lancers answered in the bottom half.

Arleigh Wood come on in relief and tallied the win by tossing two complete frames where she allowed two runs on just one hit while striking out three.

Megan Richards was dealt the loss after coming on in relief. The junior tossed 2.1 innings and allowed three runs on four hits while walking three batters.

Fredendall opened the scoring line with a solo home run to center field. The long ball marked her 10th of the season and her fifth in conference play this season.

Later in the fourth, Kynadi Tipler walked before being driven in on an RBI double to left by Morgan Rios.

Campbell tacked on another run in the fifth when Hannah McCravy came into score on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.

The Lancers answered for three runs of their own in the bottom half and gained the slight 5-4 lead in the sixth on an RBI single to second base.

On Deck

The Camels return to action on Tuesday for a three-game set at Gardner-Webb.
