CLINTON, S.C. - Campbell freshman
Claudia Ware drove in six runs on the day as Campbell swept a doubleheader over Presbyterian Saturday afternoon.
Campbell (21-26, 11-9 Big South) won game won over Presbyterian (11-37-2, 1-19 Big South) 7-0 before exploding for 13 runs in a 13-6 win in game two.
Game One
Bri Bryant and
Claudia Ware both drove in a pair of runs and
Megan Richards tossed her 14
th complete game of the season in the 7-0 win.
After two scoreless frame, Campbell used a six run third inning to bust open the game.
Cassie Wancheck led off the Campbell attack with a lead off home run to center field for her fifth of the season.
Following a line out,
Hannah McCravy walked before
Bri Bryant ripped her second home run of the year to left field to make it 3-0 Camels.
Abby Perryman followed the second out with a walk of her own before
Kayla Fredendall singled to right center which allowed Perryman to score all the way from first.
Megan Mozingo singled and the advanced to second to put both Camels in scoring position before
Claudia Ware singled to left center to plate both runs and make it 6-0.
Megan Richards (13-11) went the distance and allowed no runs over five hits while striking out five and walking just one.
Taylor Ward (4-16) went just 2.2 innings but picked up the loss by allowing six runs – all earned – across five hits while walking two and striking out just one.
Campbell added one more run in the final frame on an RBI double to left center from
Kynadi Tipler which scored
Abby Perryman who tripled to start the inning.
Game Two
Claudia Ware drove in three runs and six other Camels drove in one run apiece to help Campbell claim the series.
After both teams shared a one run first frame, Campbell posted four in the second inning.
Christa Hall singled to start the frame before being moved over on a throwing error that allowed
Hannah McCravy to reach. One batter later,
Bri Bryant sent an RBI groundout to first which score Hall.
Abby Perryman followed with an RBI single up the middle to score McCravy.
Kynadi Tipler stepped in one batter later and doubled to right center which scored Perryman from first.
Kayla Fredendall doubled as well to left center to score Tipler and make it 5-1.
After
Bri Bryant doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the third, Campbell added two more runs in the fourth to make it 8-1.
Fredendall roped her second double of the game down the right field line before being moved over to third on a groundout.
Claudia Ware then singled to left field to score Fredendall.
Morgan Rios immediately followed with an single to left center to put runners on the corners before Ware came into score on a throwing error.
PC struck for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 8-4 before
Claudia Ware singled up the middle to score
Megan Mozingo from second who was hit by a pitch and swiped the next bag to start the frame.
The Blue Hose added two more in the sixth to draw to within three runs but Campbell countered with four runs in the final frame to seal the win.
Haley Hutchins (8-13) picked up the win by going 5.2 innings where she allowed six runs – four earned – across 12 hits.
Megan Richards came on in relief to pick up her second save of the season after tossing 1.1 innings where she allowed no runs on no hits and walked just one.
Bri Bryant walked to start the Campbell seventh before being moved over on a groundout. The then stole third and advanced home to score on a throwing error.
A batter later,
Kynadi Tipler singled up the middle before Fredendall placed runners on second and third with a double down the right field line – her third of the day.
Mozingo then fouled out to right field but placed it deep enough to bring home Tipler and make it 11-6.
Claudia Ware followed with the first triple of her rookie season which allowed Fredendall to come in and score before
Morgan Rios singled to bring home Ware one batter later.
On Deck
Campbell heads to Raleigh to take on NC State for a mid-week matchup on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. before closing out the regular season at home next weekend.
