Camels draw No. 25 HPU in Big South semis

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Four the fourth straight year, Campbell will match up with No. 25 High Point in the Big South Championship.

The No. 4 seed Camels (6-10, 3-3 Big South) and the top-ranked Panthers (13-4, 6-0 Big South) are set to meet again on Friday, April 26 at 4 p.m. at High Point's Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C., site of the 2019 Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship. No. 2 seed Longwood and No. 3 seed Winthrop will match up following the Camels and Panthers at 7 p.m.

The Big South Championship final will be Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m.

Friday will also be the second meeting of the season between Campbell and HPU, with the Panthers taking the April 10 contest 21-7 at Vert Stadium.

Rachel Foster scored seven times, adding two assists in the win for the Panthers, while Mena Loescher netted five goals. Abby Hormes also notched five points with three goals and two assists, tacking on seven draw controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls in the win.

Annie Pazulski paced Campbell with four points on two goals and two assists against the Panthers. Melissa Placek also scored twice, adding an assist and five draw controls, while Sam Carey notched two goals with three draw controls and three ground balls, and Rose Prizzi picked up four ground balls with a caused turnover.

Friday will mark Campbell's fourth date against a nationally ranked team in 2019.

On the season, Pazulski leads Campbell with 52 points on 28 assists and 24 goals, while Placek has posted a team-high 33 goals and a Big South high 106 draw controls. Laura Will adds 23 goals, while Ellia Allen has scored 22 times. Carey also boasts 17 points to go along with 73 draw controls.

Amanda Chasin anchors the CU defense with 31 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers, while Julia Markey owns 26 ground balls and 24 forced miscues. Prizzi has also collected 31 ground balls with 16 caused turnovers. Lexie Patton, meanwhile, has snagged 131 saves with 35 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.

High Point, winners of the last two Big South Championships, heads into the tourney on a nine game winning streak, closing out the regular season with a 17-6 win at Winthrop.

Hormes has notched 86 points on 54 goals and 32 assists for the Panthers, while Ashley Britton owns 39 goals and nine helpers. High Point leads the all-time series 10-0.
