BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Campbell posted a pair of five-run innings in the sixth and seventh innings to pull away from Gardner-Webb and claim the series with a 12-1 win Wednesday evening at Brinkley Stadium.
Kayla Fredendall (1-for-4, 4 RBI, 2) belted her 11
th home run of the season and
Kynadi Tipler (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 run) extended her hit streak to 13 games as the Camels claimed its fourth conference series in its opening five outings.
Leading just 2-1 in the sixth the Camels (18-20, 9-6 Big South) exploded for five runs.
Avery Wheatley drew one of 14 walks, which ranks as the fifth most in a game this year in among the NCAA Division 1, to start off the frame. After a hit by pitch and an additional walk to load the bases, Fredendall drew an RBI walk to make it 3-1.
One batter later, Tipler singled through the left side on a 2-1 count to bring home
Bri Bryant who has now reached base in 14 consecutive outings.
Abby Perryman (1-for-2, 1 RBI, 2 run) followed with a sacrifice fly to left field which plated
Claudia Ware before Fredendall came into to score on a throwing error and to push the Campbell lead to 6-1.
After another hit by pitch,
Danielle Northrup came in as a pinch runner and was gunned down trying to swipe second base which allowed Tipler to score from third.
After
Haley Hutchins, who dealt three one-two-three frames, put up a zero in the bottom half Campbell struck for five more runs in the closing frame – all of which came on home runs.
Bri Bryant lined her second hit of the contest through the right side before
Claudia Ware drew her third walk of the game.
Kayla Fredendall responded with her first home run of the series with a three-run shot to center field to push the Campbell lead to 10-1.
One batter later, Kyandi Tipler ripped a solo home run to center for her seventh home run in Big South play this season which ranks first among the league leaders.
After a groundout,
Cassie Wancheck, who has reached base in 13 straight games, launched her fourth home run of the season and the Camels' third of the inning over the left field fence.
Haley Hutchins (7-10) went the distance and allowed just one run across five hits while striking out three on 103 pitches.
Abby Perryman put the Camels on the board first in the second inning by crossing home on a wild pitch with the bases loaded.
One frame later,
Megan Mozingo singled up the middle which allowed Perryman to score her second run of the contest.

Campbell finally returns home after a seven-game road stretch to host USC Upstate for a three-game slate. Action is set to begin with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. before the series cap on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
