Camels face #25 HPU in first Big South road test

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will make its Big South road debut Wednesday, traveling to No. 25 High Point for a 4 p.m. tilt at Vert Stadium.

Campbell (4-8, 1-1 Big South) will be in action for the first time in a week, falling to Winthrop in overtime on April 3 in Buies Creek 13-12.

The Camels erased a 10-7 Eagle lead in the second half with a 3-0 spurt, then scored twice in the final 1:30 of regulation with goals from Melissa Placek and Annie Pazulski, tying the score at 12-all before Mia Creighton's game-winner in extra time.

Pazulski led Campbell with seven points, matching a career-high with four goals, adding three assists and a ground ball. Placek added six points on three goals and three assists, notching eight draw controls and two ground balls.

Sam Carey tallied a game-high 10 draw controls, helping Campbell win the draw battle 19-8, tacking on a ground ball and a caused turnover. Laura Will also posted a goal and an assist, while Rose Prizzi recorded five ground balls with three caused turnovers. Lexie Patton, meanwhile, saved nine Winthrop shots.

Pazulski leads the Camels with 35 points, collecting 17 goals and 18 assists, while Placek has punched in a team-best 22 goals and 77 draw controls. Ellie Allen has chipped in 17 scores, while Will owns 16 goals. Carey also boasts 12 points to go along with 53 draw controls.

Amanda Chasin anchors the CU defense with 24 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers, while Julia Markey owns 21 ground balls and 16 forced miscues. Patton, meanwhile, has gathered 97 saves with 23 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

The Panthers head into Wednesday's matchup at 9-4 overall and 3-0 against Big South competition, winning five in a row overall. HPU, who topped Presbyterian 26-3 on Saturday, is ranked No. 25 in this week's IWLCA Coaches Poll.

Abby Hormes has notched 62 points on 39 goals and 23 assists for the Panthers, while Ashley Britton owns 39 goals and nine helpers.

HPU leads the all-time series against the Camels 9-0.

The Camels will return home on April 13, hosting Gardner-Webb in their home finale. CU will be on the road for the final week of the regular season, traveling to Longwood (April 17) and Radford (April 20) before heading into the Big South Championship (April 26-28).
