BUIES CREEK, N.C. — Both Sarah Colla and Emily Mitter recorded double-doubles to lead the Campbell University Fighting Camels to a three-set sweep of The Citadel Saturday afternoon inside Gore Arena. The win was Campbell's fourth consecutive sweep and second of the Comfort Inn Fuquay Invitational this weekend.
Mitter paired 12 assists with 10 digs for her third consecutive double-double while Colla finished with a match-high 15 kills with 10 digs, good for her second double-double of the season. Colla committed just three errors in 27 attacks for a .444 hitting percentage.
Campbell out hit The Citadel .325 to .062 over the entirety of the match, including astounding .391 and .458 marks in the first and second sets. The Camels only committed one error across the first two sets.
"We played very balanced offensively," head coach Greg Goral said. "The first two sets, we only had one hitting error, and when you manage the ball that way you force teams to defend and then transition and try to score, you are usually pretty successful. Every time out, we're feeling a bit more comfortable in running the offense and knowing what to do defensively."
Elyse Gross also logged 10 digs and finished just two assists shy of her first double-double at Campbell with eight assists. Madee Miner also helped pace the offense, dishing out nine assists.
Four-year senior Allena Heath logged five kills against the Bulldogs, moving her career total to 991, just nine kills away from 1,000 career kills; she also recorded a match-high three service aces.
The Fighting Camels play their final match of the Comfort Inn Fuquay Invitational later today with a 5 p.m. matchup against South Carolina State.
