KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Campbell swimming freshman Collen Renshaw turned in a program-record time of 23.18 in the 50 free prelims and the CU 200-free relay team earned a bronze finish to highlight the second day of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships on Thursday.
Renshaw finished sixth in the preliminary rounds and later took seventh in the 50 free finals with a time of 23.31. Her school-record time broke Michelle Case's 23.22 mark, which was set on Nov. 26, 2017, at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
Sarah Wilson, Renshaw, Maddie Baiotto and Annie Sanchez combined to swim a 1:33.06 in the 200-free relay finals; their collective time was a season-best for the Camels.
Renshaw was joined in the 50 free finals by Wilson, Baiotto, Sanchez and Maddie Heggie, who finished 12th (23.73), 16th (23.96), 17th (23.74) and 20th (24.05), respectively.
Skyler DeWall earned Campbell's highest finish in the 200 IM finals, taking 15th place (2:09.39) after turning in a time of 2:08.65 in the prelims, which was also a 15th-place finish for the sophomore. Drew Marshall came in 19th (2:08.66) in the finals, while Amanda Charleston took 24th (2:12.33).
In the lone distance event of the day, the 500 free, Erica Losey turned in a season-best time of 5:05.62 for a 17th-place finish in the prelims, before taking 19th in the finals in 5:05.66. Kacey Hauck turned in a season-low time of 5:06.29 in the 500 free finals, good for 20th place.
Through two days of competition, Campbell sits in sixth place in the women's team rankings with 244.5 points, behind UNC Asheville (256.5), Gardner-Webb (280), Incarnate Word (394), FGCU (438) and Liberty (581).
Campbell continues action with the CCSA Championships on Friday with the preliminary rounds scheduled for 10 a.m. The finals are set from 6 p.m.
