KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Campbell swimming senior Maddie Baiotto bested her own program record in the 100 fly prelims and then broke the record again in the 100 fly finals by earning a silver medal on the third day of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships.
Baiotto, a native of Hubert, N.C., swam a 54.63 in the prelims before posting a 54.15 in the finals to take second place. Both times brought her program record down from a 54.83, which she set at the 2019 conference meet.
Lauren Shoemaker, Skyler DeWall, Maddie Heggie and Julia Sherlock also competed in the 100 fly finals, taking 13th place (57.11), 16th place (57.69), 20th place (57.36) and 22nd place (57.51), respectively.
Maggie Whitman and Amanda Charleston earned top-20 finishes in the 400 IM finals, swimming times of 4:34.25 and 4:37.00 for 18th and 20th place, respectively.
In the 200 free finals, Colleen Renshaw and Annie Sanchez went 12-13 in the final standings, posting times of 1:53.14 and 1:53.32, respectively, while Angelica Brown earned CU's highest finish in the 100 breast finals in 1:07.01 for 19th place.
Three Camels – Kamaria Mahone, Megan Everritt and Sherlock – finished within the B-Finals of the 100 back finals. Mahone and Everritt tied for ninth place with times of 56.64, while Sherlock finished 16th in 57.41.
Day three of the conference meet concluded with the 400-medley relay finals, but Campbell was disqualified after an early take-off.
After the first three days of competition, and with one day remaining, Campbell remains in sixth place in the women's team rankings with 461.5 points, behind Gardner-Webb (483), UNC Asheville (515), Incarnate Word (664.5), FGCU (889) and Liberty (1023).
The final day of the CCSA Championships is Saturday, Feb. 22, with prelims beginning again at 10 a.m. while the finals will start at 6 p.m.
