NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Shy Tuelle made a pair of free throws with 1.3 seconds remaining on the clock to lift Campbell past Charleston Southern 43-42 Tuesday night inside the Buc Dome.
The win Tuesday night clinched a share of the Big South regular season title with three games remaining on the docket.
Campbell inbounded the ball with nine seconds to play before
Shy Tuelle pulled up for a three and was fouled with 1.3 seconds on the clock. The junior made two of three to give Campbell the 43-42 lead.
Charleston Southern's Kelsie Ruff-Mills got off a three point attempt as time expired but the shot clanked off the front iron to help the Camels win their eighth straight road win and to claim the most road victories in program history with nine.
Taya Bolden recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 assist.
Luana Serranho added 13 and Tuelle 11 for the Camels (20-6, 15-2 Big South) who only had five scorers on the night.
Ruff-Mills led the way for CSU (4-22, 2-15 Big South) with eight points followed by Carmella Walker, Sha'Mya Leigh and Cailah Hickson who all had six.
The 20 wins on the season marked the third time in four years the Camels has reached the mark under
Ronny Fisher. The guarantee of at least a share of a regular season title marks the first regular season crown for the Camels since 2001 and the third overall.
Campbell was able to force 20 CSU turnovers and convert them into 15 points on the night to secure the win despite shooting just 28.1 percent from the floor and 15.6 percent from downtown.
With the win, Campbell still has not dropped a game on a Tuesday this season posting a perfect 9-0 mark and a 7-0 record in league play.
Campbell returns home on Saturday to host Presbyterian for senior day at 2:00 p.m.
