BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell hosts UNC Asheville Saturday in a 4:30 p.m. tip-off at Gore Arena.  The regular season finale marks the final home game for Camel seniors
Cory Gensler,
Noah Saunders and
Trey Spencer.

The Camels (14-15, 5-12) are coming off a 73-61 loss last Saturday at Gardner-Webb. Asheville (14-14, 8-9) has won four of its last five outings after Thursday's 80-76 victory at High Point.

	- Cory Gensler (Cary, N.C.) leads the most successful 4-year senior class (71 wins) in the program's Division I era (since '77-78). He also holds the school record for games played (131), is 2nd in starts (124), 3rd in minutes (4,049), 7th in 3-point FG (189), 9th in steals (140), while rating 25th all-time, and 14th in the D1 era, in scoring (1,083).  He is a 3-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member and 2-time all-academic team honoree.

	- Since joining the Camels from Holmes (Miss.) CC, last year, Trey Spencer (Grenada, Miss.) has appeared in 59 games with 22 starts.  He was a key reserve on the 2019 Big South regular season championship team and has played in all 29 games with 15 starts while averaging 6.1 points and 3.1 rebounds as a senior.

	- Noah Saunders (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has been a valuable reserve for the Camels after joining the program in 2018-19 from Cuesta (Calif.) College.  Injuries have limited him to 26 games, but he played a vital role for the 2019 Big South regular season champs, who advanced to the NIT.

	- On Jan. 8 at Asheville, Jordan Whitfield scored a (then) career-high 16 points, including a pair of key free throws with 5.6 seconds to play, to lift Campbell over the Bulldogs 64-62.  UNC Asheville rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit, but could never regain the lead against the Camels, who shot 54 percent from the floor and hit 7-of-15 threes.  Cory Gensler added 12 points, while Ja'Cor Nelson (11) and Jesús Carralero (10) reached double figures off the bench.  Tajion Jones led the Bulldogs with 17 points, DeVon Baker had 16 and Lavar Batts 13 for Asheville, which shot just 39.7 percent.

	- Campbell will open play in the Hercules Tires Big South Championship Tuesday. Pairings will be announced Saturday night after the conclusion of league regular season games.

	- The Camels own a 7-5 record at Gore Arena this season, 3-5 vs. Big South schools in Buies Creek.  UNC Asheville is 5-9 overall on the road, 3-5 at league foes.

	- Seven of Campbell's 12 losses in Big South play have come by single-digit margins, including five by six, or fewer, points.

	- Gensler enters Saturday's game with 1,083 points - 25th overall in CU history and 14th in the program's Division I era (since '77-78).  He is just 16 points behind Corey Best (1,099 from 1994-98).

	- The Camels have led at halftime in 10 of their last 12 games, including a 41-21 margin Feb. 20 at Charleston Southern.

	- Asheville has used just one starting lineup all season - one of three teams in Division I to employ the same starting five each game (North Texas, Furman).

	- The Bulldog underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores) have scored 97 percent of the team's points this season, representing the highest percentage of underclassmen scoring in Division I.

	- UNC Asheville ranks fourth in the nation in turnover margin (+5.3) and 25th in steals per game (8.4).

	- Saturday's game marks the 48th all-time between Campbell and UNC Asheville, dating to the 1967-68 season when both were members of the NAIA.  CU won 5 of the 8 meetings between the schools while the Camels were members of the Atlantic Sun Conference (1994-2011), but the Bulldogs have claimed 12 of 15 since Campbell re-joined the Big South in 2011-12.  However, the Camels have won two-straight and 3 of the last 5 with Asheville.
