BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will host its final home nonconference matchup Wednesday afternoon, taking on Delaware State for Education Day at Barker-Lane Stadium. The opening draw is set for 11:00 a.m.
The Camels will host more than 2,000 area seventh graders for the matchup, aiming to educate and promote the growing game of lacrosse, including sportsmanship, rules and on-field play, positions, as well as equipment segments during the event, while getting the opportunity to watch a NCAA Division I lacrosse match in person.

Leading the Camels
Julianna Sanchez, already a two-time Big South Freshman of the Week, owns a team-high 18 goals with 19 total points, while
Megan Matthews has posted 18 points on eight goals and a team-high 10 assists.
Mackenzie Kolesar and
Sam Carey have combined for 25 goals, while
Laura Will has posted nine goals and five helpers for the Camels.
Carey has also registered 33 draw controls with 12 ground balls and six caused turnovers, while
Rebekah Taylor owns 18 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.
Anna Ryan has also picked up 18 ground balls with 12 caused turnovers. In goal,
Alex Salim has saved an even 100 shots with a .476 save percentage.
Last time out
Bucknell wrapped a 7-0 run around the halftime break and held off Campbell (1-7) 13-10 last Saturday. The Camels led 6-5 with 9:37 on the clock in the first half after
Alexis McDaniel's second goal of the day before Bucknell picked up the final two scores of the half, including Kali Peeples' goal with 1.3 seconds remaining.
The Bison continued their run into the second half with five more unanswered scores, including three in a row from Tegan Warren, to go ahead 12-6 with 12:02 to play. Campbell notched four of the final five goals of the game, but its comeback effort fell short, 13-10.
During the 7-0 Bucknell run, Campbell was held off the board for 30:03.
Scouting Delaware State
The Hornets are 1-4 on the season after falling at Sacred Heart 21-2 last Friday, and have been held to six or fewer goals in all four of their losses this season. Delaware State also topped Howard 18-9 for its lone win so far in 2020.
Jordan Santana has posted a team-high 12 goals for the Hornets, while Gwenna Gentle has scored eight times, combining for 27 draw controls. Gentle also owns four ground balls and four caused turnovers, while Dachelle Johnson has registered five ground balls and caused four turnovers.
The series
Wednesday will be the first meeting between Campbell and Delaware State, the third first time opponent for the Camels this season (George Washington, Bucknell).

The Camels will wrap up their nonconference schedule on the road at Old Dominion on March 14 before starting Big South play at Winthrop on March 28.
