BOILING SPINGS, N.C. - Carley Plentovich scored 22 points and Jhessyka Williams added 18 to lead Gardner-Webb past Campbell 77-69 Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale.
The Runnin' Bulldogs 18-11, 13-7 Big South) forced a season-high 26 turnovers for the Camels and converted them into 31 points on the afternoon.
Savannah Plentovich added 14 points while Lauren Bevis scored 12 to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for Gardner-Webb.
Taya Bolden led he Camels with 19 points and
Kianna Speight added 16 for the Camels (21-8, 16-4 Big South).
Luana Serranho also added 13 points while Svenia Nurenberg scored a career-high 11 points.
Kianna Speight knocked five three pointers on the afternoon to become the new program record holder for most three-point field goals made in a season with 66. Her new mark surpassed previous record holders Summer Price (2017-18) and
Caroline Bowns (2016-17) who both hit 64 three-pointers in their respective seasons.
Campbell led by one point, 53-52, heading into the fourth quarter but the Runnin' Bulldogs outscored the Camels 25-16 in the final frame. Gardner-Webb went on a 16-2 run to push its lead to 13, its largest of the game, on an Alexis Houston triple with 5:14 to play.
Campbell could not draw closer than eight down the stretch to drop its second-consecutive game for the first time since December 21.
The 'Dogs were able to control the paint outscoring the Camels 32-24 while also snagging a 13-2 advantage on the fast break and a 21-4 positive stat in bench points.
Campbell now sets its sights on the Hercules Tires Big South Conference Tournament where the Camels will be the No. 1 seed and host the winner of Longwood and Presbyterian who square off on Tuesday night.
