Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C. - A balanced offense paved the way for Campbell in its 66-51 win over Charleston Southern, Saturday night at the Buccaneer Field House.
Campbell, winners of four-straight, advances to 10-5 on the season and 7-3 in the Big South, as Charleston Southern falls to 6-8 overall and 4-6 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Campbell jumped out to a 14-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back despite a 7-3 run by the Buccaneers to make it a 17-8 Campbell lead at the end of the period
- Seven different scorers combined to shoot 58.8% (10-of-17) from the field for the Camels in the second quarter as a balanced offensive attack gave CU a 45-21 halftime lead
- Campbell maintained its lead the rest of the way, leading by as much as 26 early in the third quarter
- A late surge by the Buccaneers was all too late as the Camels earned a 66-51 victory, marking the fourth-straight win and longest streak of the season for CU
NOTABLES
- Taya Bolden recorded her sixth double-double of the season, leading the team with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the game
- Bolden has scored in double-figures in six-straight games and all but one Big South game this season
- Lauren McNamara-Clement provided 14 points, six rebounds and four blocks while Shy Tuelle added 10 points
- Tatyana Carver added nine points on three 3-pointers marking the fourth-straight game the sharpshooting redshirt-junior has connected on more than one shot from deep
- In total eight players managed to score in Campbell's balanced offense throughout the game
- Campbell out-rebounded the Buccaneers, 42-28 and held a 26-9 advantage on second-chance points
- Campbell led the entire game, never relinquishing the lead at any point for the first time this season
- Sharita Godfrey led Charleston Southern with 14 points on 46.2% shooting from the field while Makenna Winans and Alyssia Faye added seven points and seven rebounds each
