DURHAM, N.C. – Campbell opened its 2021 men's tennis season with a 7-0 loss Friday at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
Duke claimed the doubles point with 6-2 wins at the second and third matches. In the No.-1 match, Campbell's duo of
Benjamin Niv and
Matthew Beecher tied with Sean Sculley and Garrett Johns at 4-4 when play was halted after the team point was decided.
Niv battled Johns to a first-set tiebreaker in the top singles position and
Gustavs Lukstins played a tiebreaker in the second set at number four, but both fell in straight sets.
Campbell returns to action Feb. 7 at Davidson.
