Conway, S.C. - Athanas Kioko won the men's 8K race, breaking the course record as Campbell finished competition at the Chanticleer Challenge.
Dorcus Ewoi placed fourth overall in the women's 5K as both teams finished fourth overall at the meet.
Kioko won his second race this season finishing the course in 23:28.5; breaking the Hackler course record of 25:25 64 set by Jamie McCarthy in 2006.
His pace was more than a minute faster than Charleston Southern's Fearghal Curtin who finished second in 24:42.2. Rievan Lombard finished 18th in 26:41.7 while Pace Clark earned a 28th place finish in 27:24.1 to round out the top finishers for the CU men.
Ewoi stayed consistent with the leaders as she stayed in the top five at both the 500m and 2.7K splits in the women's 5K, eventually finishing fourth overall with a time of 17:57.0. Lesego Mpshe also had a strong showing, finishing 11th with a time of 18:18.6 while Madelyn Rodriguez finished 21st in 19:06.2.
The Camels return to competition on Oct. 15 at the VertCross meet, hosted by High Point.
