Cross country adds Ruppe as assistant coach

Former Winthrop student-athlete set to assist distance runners

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell cross country and & track and field announced the addition of Cameron Ruppe as an assistant coach. Ruppe will work primarily with distance athletes.

Ruppe joins the staff after serving as the head coach for cross country and track & field at Louisburg College this past year.

Prior to his time at Louisburg, Ruppe was an assistant with the cross country and track & field programs at College of Charleston. While there he coached three top-10 performances in program history.

He also spent time as an assistant at Buena Vista University located in Iowa from 2018-19. He coached 15 top-10 performances in program history, including five program records. Ruppe also coached an academic All-American of the Year and helped the men's cross country team achieve their best regional finish in over a decade.

Ruppe was a member of the cross country and track & field programs at Winthrop, graduating in 2018 with a B.S. in special education. During his time at Winthrop, he spent time as an assistant coach at Rock Hill HS. four regional team championships, fifteen individual regional champions, eight All-State performances and three All-State runners-up while eight athletes earned collegiate scholarships.
