Last time out
No. 11 Kennesaw State outscored Campbell 23-0 in the second half, topping the Camels 30-7 at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Nathan Robertson gave the Owls their first lead of the day with a 46 yard field goal in the third quarter. Xavier Shepherd's 52 yard pass to Nykeem Farrow on KSU's next possession made it a 17-7 lead for the Owls with 4:59 to go in the third quarter. The Camels looked to answer on their next two possessions, marching into KSU territory with a pair of 10-plus play drives, but a pair of missed field goals, the second returned for a TD, made it a 24-7 Owl lead with 6:15 remaining.

The Owls tacked on another TD with time expiring, with Shepherd finding Gabriel Benyard for a four yard score.

Kennesaw State rolled up 370 yards of total offense, including 258 yards on the ground, holding Campbell without a score in all three of its red zone opportunities.

Campbell leads the Big South in 12 team statistical categories.

Snead eyes TD record, reaches 2,000 career yards
For the season, Caleb Snead owns 668 yards receiving on 42 catches with eight touchdowns already in 2021. Snead's 668 yards with four games remaining already ranks third in the Campbell single-season record book, as does his 42 catches and eight scores, behind Aaron Blockmon's 2016 season (1,038 yards, 54 receptions, 10 TDs) and Snead's 2018 campaign (810, 45, 9).

Snead leads the Big South in TD receptions and yards, while standing fifth and ninth nationally. Playing in 27 career games, the redshirt senior became the second Camel in history to surpass 2,000 career receiving yards (now with 2,032).

With 23 career receiving touchdowns, he tied the Campbell career record, matching Blockmon (2015-18). He is also second behind Blockmon in career receiving yards (2,647).

Snead is just the fourth Camel in history to score at least 20 career touchdowns, along with De'Shawn Jones' 22 (2013-16), and trailing only Blockmon (2015-18) and Daniel Smith (2017-18), who both scored 25 career TDs.

Defense surging
Campbell owns 21 takeaways on the season, all over its last five games, leading the FCS in the category for the 2021 season.

In the win at North Alabama to open Big South play, CU notched two defensive touchdowns (fumble or interception return) in a game for just the third time in its modern era (since 2008), accomplishing the feat for the first time against a Division I opponent. The Camels also scored two defensive TDs against Apprentice in 2011 (fumble return, interception return) and at Carthage in 2008 (two interception returns). It was the first time a Campbell team had returned two fumbles for touchdowns in a game.

Campbell scored its FCS leading fourth defensive touchdown of the season last week against No. 11 Kennesaw State. Levi Wiggins picked up a CJ Tillman forced fumble and returned the ball 94 yards for the TD. It marked the longest fumble return in Campbell history.

Campbell owns 14 non-offensive touchdowns since 2017.

Camels welcome sellout homecoming crowd
Campbell welcomed its seventh consecutive homecoming sellout crowd (5,977) last week against No. 11 Kennesaw State. The 14th largest home crowd in Barker-Lane Stadium history, Saturday marked the Camels' first homecoming game since 2019, when CU welcomed a school record 6,783 to Buies Creek to see the Camels top Hampton 31-16.

Tillman shines as rookie
Rookie linebacker CJ Tillman recorded double figure tackles (11) for the second straight game against No. 11 Kennesaw State. The freshman now owns 30 stops for the season, including 2.5 tackles for loss with a forced fumble and an interception, which he returned for a TD.

Tillman also sparked the biggest play of the game for the Camels against the Owls. In a scoreless game in the second quarter against the Owls threatening in the red zone, Tillman knocked the ball out, allowing Levi Wiggins to scoop and score from 94 yards away. It marked the longest fumble return in CU history, and the team's FCS leading fourth defensive touchdown of the season.
