BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Jett Duffey's go-ahead touchdown with 2:10 to go lifted visiting Hampton over Campbell 28-21 on Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The Pirates improved to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in Big South play, while CU fell to 3-7 on the year and 2-4 in conference games with its fifth straight loss.
Campbell led its 2021 home finale 14-7 at the half after CJ Freeman's three yard rush. 
Darion Slade intercepted Duffey on Hampton's opening drive of the second half, but Ohmante Jenkins' strip sack, one of two on the day for the nose guard, on the ensuing play was picked up and returned by KeShaun Moore for a HU touchdown to tie the score at 14-all.
After a pair of Axel Perez field goals pushed the Hampton lead to 20-14, Campbell regained the lead on 
Dylan Earney's 42 yard touchdown pass to 
Jalen Kelsey with 6:16 on the clock in the fourth quarter, 21-20.
The Pirates, however, responded with a 10 play, 75 yard march, including a 26 yard pass to Elijah Burris, and capped by Duffey's one yard TD. The two point conversion from Duffey to Tymere Robinson gave Hampton a seven point lead with 2:10 remaining.
Campbell moved the ball to midfield on Earney's 13 yard third down throw to 
Julian Hill, but the drive stalled, returning possession to HU with 49 seconds remaining.
Hampton accumulated 237 of its 353 yards in the second half, controlling the ball for 21:32 after the break.
Duffey completed 19-of-31 passes for 231 yards with two interceptions while rushing for two touchdowns and a team-high 51 yards. Jadakis Bonds hailed in eight passes for 110 yards, while Romon Copeland accounted for 101 yards on five catches and two runs.
Ali Shockley posted a game-high 14 tackles, while Jenkins collected two strip sacks and four total tackles for the Pirates.
Earney, making his first career start for CU, completed 16-of-29 throws for 196 yards and a TD, while Kelsey made four catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. 
Michael Jamerson also rushed for a game-high 67 yards for the Camels.
Keshawn Thompson paced Campbell with 10 tackles, while 
Chris Cromartie and 
Brevin Allen combined for four of Campbell's nine tackles for loss. With Allen's third quarter sack, the senior became Campbell's single season record holder in the category, pushing his Big South leading mark to 9.5 on the year.
Campbell will close out the season next week at Big South newcomer Robert Morris (November 20).
