BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell defensive end Brevin Allen has been named Big South Defensive Player of the Year, leading six Camels on the league's 2021 all-conference teams.

Allen was joined by wide receiver Caleb Snead, tight end Julian Hill and offensive tackle Tyler McLellan as First Team All-Big South honorees, while defensive back Darion Slade and kick returner Josh McNeely were tabbed second team all-conference.

Defensive back Levi Wiggins was also named to the Big South All-Academic Team.

Allen, one of two Big South student-athletes to be named a 2021 Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan Award finalist, led the conference in sacks (9.5) and tackles for loss (17.5), ranking in the top-20 nationally in both categories.

The senior from Greensboro, N.C. set a Campbell single season record for sacks, while tying the program single season mark in stops for loss, standing as one of 10 Big South defenders with two or more forced fumbles on the year, adding 44 total tackles with a fumble recovery, a pass breakup and six hurries. The now three-time All-Big South performer was also named second team all-conference in 2019 and 2020.

Named Big South Defensive Player of the Week (10/11) after posting 3.0 tackles for loss, including 2.0 sacks, with two forced fumbles, five total tackles and a pass breakup in a win at Gardner-Webb, Allen is the first Camel ever named Big South Defensive Player of the Year since joining the league in 2018.

Snead earned his third All-Big South honor (first team in 2018, second team in 2019) as the league's only 1,000 yard receiver. The wide out hauled in 1,067 receiving yards, 294 more than any other player in the Big South, also leading the conference in receiving touchdowns (10) and receptions (73) – all Campbell single-season records.

Ranking fifth nationally in receiving yards, ninth in receptions and 12th in receiving touchdowns, Snead posted three 100-plus yard receiving games, as well as three games with double digit catches, including a CU record 198 yards on 11 catches with two touchdowns at No. 3 James Madison, the most receiving yards in the Big South this season.

Hill led all Big South tight ends in receptions (34), while ranking second in receiving yards at the position with 367, standing 15^th overall in the league for catches and 18^th in receiving yards. The senior collected two receiving touchdowns and averaged 10.8 yards per catch, putting up career-highs in receptions, yards and TDs for the season.

A Fayetteville, N.C. native, Hill recorded a career-high 89 yards on six catches with a TD in a win at Gardner-Webb, one of three games with 50 or more receiving yards. He was also named Second Team All-Big South in 2020.
 
McLellan helped the Camels lead the Big South in passing offense at 261.6 yards per game, ranking 22^nd in the FCS, despite starting three different quarterbacks during the season. The redshirt senior has started 26 consecutive games on the CU offensive line, including 10 games at right tackle in 2021.

The redshirt senior from North Charleston, S.C. helped the CU offense set a school record for passing yards (2,901) and passing touchdowns (24) this season, as well as a school single season record four 300-plus yard passing games, including a single game record 424 yards in a win over Presbyterian. McLellan was also named Second Team All-Big South in 2019 and 2020.

Slade ranked 10^th in the Big South in tackles per game (6.8), collecting 61 stops for the season, including 5.0 for loss with two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, a pass breakup and a defensive touchdown. The Winston-Salem, N.C. native was the only player in the Big South with at least 60 tackles, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries, despite playing in only nine games.

He was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week (10/4) after recording a game-high 11 tackles in a win at North Alabama, including 1.0 stop for loss, to go along with a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown, while matching a season-high with 11 tackles against Kennesaw State, adding interceptions against Charleston Southern and Hampton on the way to his third All-Big South honor (2019 First Team, 2020 Second Team).

McNeely led the Big South with 28.8 yards per kick return in 2021, ranking eighth in the FCS. One of three Big South kick returners with 500 or more return yards, McNeely totaled 11 kick returns of 20 or more yards, including a long of 99 – the longest in the Big South this season.

The redshirt senior returned a kickoff 58 yards against Kennesaw State, plus a 53 yard return at Robert Morris, also serving as CU's primary punt returner, returning seven punts for 30 yards, and adding four tackles with a fumble recovery and a pass breakup on the defensive side.

Wiggins made the Big South's All-Academic Team for the third straight year. The BBA Trust and Wealth Management program graduate is a two-time (2020 & 2021) William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist, serving as a team captain in 2021.

The defensive back, starting at both cornerback and safety this season, made 32 tackles with 2.0 stops for loss, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and three pass breakups. Against Kennesaw State, Wiggins recorded the longest fumble return in CU history with a 94 yard TD.
